The Deconstructed House - Late Summer Edition

The Deconstructed House: Late Summer Edition

The Deconstructed House: Atlanta's source for 'direct from the demolition' job site materials for re-use, re-purpose, and recycle!  We have lots of photos of recent activities - lots of demolition jobs in the pipeline.

CASE STUDY SUCCESS: VINTAGE BRICKS DIRECT FROM DEMO JOB SITE TO NEW INSTALL!

Where do vintage bricks come from?  They are peeled off, by the demolition operator carefully so as to reduce the breakage as much as possible.  These bricks went directly to a new install. They were loaded onto a tandem dump truck from the site of a Sandy Springs demolition job site and delivered to a new (old!) masonry patio install in the Atlanta Lake Claire Neighborhood.  This project is is a PERFECT example of ReUSE at its best. The transportation of the bricks was limited by going straight from the generator site to the ReUSE destination, saving trucking costs, emissions, labor, storage.....the list goes on.  Our JOB is to find these kind of market opportunities and MAKE THEM HAPPEN, even if we "break even". This scenario worked with the masonry contractor, as the contractor would've had to make several trips to our shop to load and purchase this large quantity. The contractor did report that there was a % of waste, as we all expected, but it was worth the price the contractor paid for the bricks. The contractor was able to utilize the new build construction dumpster that was onsite to dispose of any waste (mortar, broken bricks, etc) that resulted from the load he received.

Photo of the patio install coming soon - as promised by the masonry contractor !!

Claw Foot Tub or Water Garden Feature?

Gawgeous and From Another Time.....

We always say, if these walls could talk......? But you do scratch your head from time to time when you come across an old beauty with features such as stained glass window and diamond panes that have been hidden with an interior AND exterior paint job.  Maybe curtains were not in the budget and the inhabitants were trying to 'keep out the sun'.  Regardless, this gem of a home is slated for Southern Demolition and Environmental to demolish in the next coming weeks. The goody has been gotten, and the photos below will ensure the structure will not be "forgotten".....

Come see us at the store on Friday and Saturdays or call to arrange your reUSE brick delivery!
